If Carmelo Anthony leaves the Nuggets would he be the player he was before Chauncey Bullups came to Denver?

Without Chauncey Billups Carmelo Anthony was nothing but a great scorer and a terrible leader the second Chauncey Billups arrived in Denver he took over the leadership role and Carmelo played a little better defensively when Mr. Big Shot came to Denver and was asked to be the 2nd option. If Carmelo would go to New Jersey then they would only marginally get better because Carmelo lacks leadership qualities. He needs a reliable first option in order for his game to be a success because he has proven that he can't play well as the 1st option.
