I'm curious about having metals in space. won't cosmic radiation eat it away over time?

Because maybe I have a very simple explanation of radiation but isn't it very fast moving particles that collide with atoms and maybe bump them around like little tiny bullets constantly shooting something, so over time I would think that the metal would pretty much dissolve if left in space too long
