Using windows 7 how to copy music file names without the files?

i have windows 7. my music is on an external drive. all 2000 songs of it. i realize this isn't very very much but they are too many to write by hand. i would like to copy the names of my music files to a text document for the purpose of cataloging but i don't want to write them one at a time. is it possible to select all of them and copy JUST the names. NOT the music? if so, how do i do this? PLEEEASE HELP!!!
