I blew all my laptop's usb ports..way to fix it?

I seem to have broken pretty much all four of my usb ports on my laptop. It's not a terribly old laptop at all, maybe a year and half but I don't think we're under warranty anymore. Is there a way to fix this? Two are physically broken, a piece fell out of one and the other got jammed under the plug's lip. Two are marginally workable, but very sensitive, they tend to loose connection rather easily so plugging in usb hubs really haven't been working, and have been a pain with the ac adapter to plug into an outlet. I really am not in the position to get a new laptop, should I take it to a shop to have new usb ports soldered on the motherboard? There are other ports on the left side of the laptop, like HDMI and I believe a cable jack and one other thing, are there any ways to convert one of them into a usb port/station? Thanks
