Question concerning piracy?

The answer above me is wrong. Copyright law allows the owner of legal copies of music and movies to create a backup copy for their own use, as long as they don't allow anyone else to have it. The downloaded movie in question could constitute this "backup copy". The law doesn't say anything about HOW the backup copy can be made or obtained.
