HELP - Urgent advice needed about ears after using q-tips?

I used a q-tip 3 nights ago because my ear was itchy and immediately after my ear felt more blocked and i suffered some hearing loss. The next day it was marginally better but then i had a shower and got water in it which made it a thousand times worse. It unblocked a bit afterwards but there was still slight hearing loss. It has been this slight hearing loss for 2 days now - it ached a bit (not much) yesterday but has barely ached at all today. However the slight hearing loss remains. Could this be permanent? Should be going to doctor tomorrow. Should I be worried? Is this just a normal ear infection?
